DENIM OFF-THE- SHOULDER DRESS

The OTS Trend has been on fire this past spring and summer and I can't get enough!

I found this adorable OTS Denim dress at Gabe's for $9 and I'm obsessed. There are so many versions of dresses similar to this one, but this one was the most inexpensive I found!

I decided to style this dress with some choker necklaces I bought from Kohl's and my favorite Grey pointed flats for Charlotte Russe!

I hope this trend is here to stay!

ROOM TOUR

I'm super excited to be done with my post-bacc year, and I'll be moving out of my apartment and back home with my parents while I prepare for the MCAT and get more clinical experience. Sadly this means I have to give up my adorable apartment and bedroom that I spent so much time decorating. To commemorate my time spent and all my effort I put in decor, I decided to photograph my room and share it here!

BTW, most things, if not everything was DIYed by yours truly!

Gallery Wall

I DIYed my entire Gallery Wall (Printed Photos and Hand Painted/ Spray Painted Canvases and Frames)

A little Pinterest inspiration and dollar store frames can go a long way!

DIY DESK

I found this desk and chair at Goodwill for a total of $15 ( 5 dollars for the table and I bought 2 chairs for $5 each). All it took was spray paint and some awesome metallic animal print from Walmart!

BED
The word wall art was found at Goodwill and covered with glitter cardstock from Joann's!

All my pillows and bedding were DIYed by my mom and I!

DIY GOLD STORAGE SHELF

$12 Ikea Shelf spray painted gold!

Although I have to say goodbye to this room, I'm obsessed with decor, especially anything I can DIY, so I'm already planning my decor for my apt when I get into med school!

ROMPING AROUND

It's Late July, and if you're from the south you know that means you immediately start melting as you leave the front door, so this type of weather can only call for one thing... a breezy sleeveless romper!

And of course cute little afro puffs because it's way too hot to wear my hear down lol!

Hope you guys are beating the heat and having a nice and cool summer!

FEELING PEACHY

In all the summer heat, I love wearing sleeveless tops! I particularly love this peach/coral sleeveless sweater because it I'm able to wear it year round!

I paired with with some white ripped skinny jeans I thrifted from GoodWill and my favorite old mini orange purse ( it's so tiny and adorable).

I also love a necklace with pink and orange beads and Moroccan shaped earrings I bought from Charming Charlie awhile back.

Today's high is 95 degrees. It's been one hot July! I wish you all happiness, joy and a cool breeze every now and then!

MCAT PREP

Today marks my last day of freedom before I divulge into studying for the dreaded MCAT! I've been putting this test on the back burner because honestly I wasn't comfortable enough with material and although the MCAT is a major portion of every student's application to medical school, in my situation, I placed an extreme amount of weight on it... but I'm deciding to enter the mindset that this is just a test, and like every test, there are right answers on the page and the key to choosing the right answer is A)Knowledge (which comes with proper preparation) and B) Confidence, which comes from successful practice!

I know there are so many different opinions on how to prepare the MCAT, and I've debated them all. I always had the idea that I would take a prep course from one of the major test prep companies, but a reality check, I realized that I can't afford a $1500+ prep course out of pocket and honestly I shouldn't have to pay that much to prep for a test. Don't get me wrong, I know plenty of doctors and students that have taken a course and it worked perfectly for them, but I know just as many people who have studied for the MCAT without a course and also did just fine. The MCAT itself cost $300 and if you're eligible for Fee Assistance $115 (tip: if you think you may be eligible for the Fee Assistance Program, apply before buying any MCAT materials and before registering for the test!). The test itself is relatively expensive and medical school is expensive, so if you believe you have the discipline an motivation, maybe consider saving some money and self-study. But if feel like you need the discipline of a course and need the accountability of peers, instructors and your bank account, a prep course may be for you!

In the past I haven't been extremely self-disciplined, but I only plan to take this test once (fingers crossed), and it's an important part of my future, so I'm going to try my darndest to stay focused. With that said, I've decided to give myself 5-6 months to study so I can pace myself and adjust my strategy accordingly if I feel like I'm not progressing.

Knowledge and Confidence through practice is how I'm approaching the MCAT. To make sure that I have proper knowledge of the material covered on the exam, I'm spending 3 months of pure content review since it's been a while since I've taken basic biology and general chemistry. Then I'll spend the last 3 months practicing using practice passages and practice full-length exams so I get comfortable with knowledge assessment and recall.

Below is the study schedule I planned out for myself and hopefully by the time January rolls around, I'll be ready to kick the Medical College Admissions Test in the ass!

Let me know if you guys have any questions or suggestions and I'll update closer to my test date!
