LITTLE YELLOW SHORTS AND PANAMA JACK

You know what I love about June:

Summer!

And these high-waited linen yellow shorts are the perfect pop of color for summer! I also love my Panama Jack cruiser bike. I begged my parents for one a few years ago and I finally got one for my 20th birthday. Although, since I'm away at school the majority of the year, I don't get to ride it much, I love to break it out for summer afternoons! I just wish I lived near the beach so I could cruise along a boardwalk!

MEMORIAL DAY

Memorial Day always marks the start of summer! And like the Fourth of July, it's the perfect day to grill some steaks and hot dogs while rocking some red, white and blue! This forever 21 mock neck sleeveless top is perfect with it red, blue and cream stripes. I also love denim skirts for the summer and of course, summer = baseball season, so my Yankee's hat is Americana as gets!

When we were heading out to take pictures, my mom asked who was I remembering? And sometimes I think we as a country forget that holidays like Memorial Day, Veterans Day and other military holidays aren't just for cookouts, fireworks and sales.but are meant to celebrate and honor the heroes that serve our nation and protect our freedom. So although I hope everyone enjoyed the three day weekend, but don't forget on  Memorial Day, we remember those who gave their lives so we could we remain the Land of the Free and I couldn't be more thankful!

ORGANIC CHEMISTRY AS A SECOND LANGUAGE: ACE ORGANIC CHEM!

I dare you to ask any doctor or medical student what their hardest course in college was... 9 times out 10, they'll tell you, Organic Chemistry. If there is anyone that has taken Organic Chemistry, then you can agree with me... it is the chemistry of Satan! Ok, so it's not that bad, but it is pretty difficult and unfortunately for me, Orgo and I didn't have simpatico until our second go'round. I will admit that it was easier because the material wasn't completely new, but when I entered my post-bacc last semester, I hadn't taken Organic Chemistry since my junior year (3 years ago) and I didn't completely master it then... but I can now confidently say, Organic Chemistry is my jam! And I this book totally helped, my first organic chem professor recommended it and I'm so glad I held on to it. Like the title suggests, Organic Chemistry is like learning a second language; the language of benzene rings, pKa, SN1/SN2, and nucleophilicity. If you read that and were like huh! don't feel alarmed. Orgo is a complete language of its own, and is unique from any other science I've taken, even gen chem. This book helps break it down into laymen's terms and I preferred it a lot more than Organic Chemistry for Dummies (which I also own) or even my textbook. I still absolutely recommend your textbook and your instructor of course, but if you're struggling this book explains and has problems to help supplement.

With this book, practice, and confidence from productive practice problems and studying, I not only saw grade improvements and received A's on tests and quizzes, but I actually could understand Organic Chemistry and weirdly enjoyed it... I enjoy it so much now, that I'm actually considering tutoring it (go figure!)

I hope this post was helpful I wish you all success in Orgo and any other endeavors
